Chicken Pox....NAH

On our second day....Not even 2 full days of school, I got a call from Hattie's teacher. She is itching all over and has some bumps. The teacher thinks she has chicken pox. She needed me to come get her right away. So my mind is totally freaking out!! Where in the world would we have come into contact with chicken pox? I have a 15 mo old and am pregnant, what if we get it too? We are supposed to go out of town this weekend. And so on. To top it off, I get to wake Riley from her daily nap. This is not going to be pleasant. With cranky, half awake baby in tow, I head off to the school to pick up my itchy kid. All the while, trying to make an appointment and guess how long it will take me to arrive at the doctor's office. I pick Hattie up and yep, she is red all around her neck, arms and chest. Oye Ve. We get to the doctor's office in record time and we proceed to wait, and wait, and wait. Now granted, we are being sqeezed in, at the first of school starting, near the end of the day and the girls doc is very, very popular! So, I am holding my own, reading some parenting magazine and trying to coral the girls. We finally get back to a room and I am thinking we are much closer to finding out what is causing my daughter to peel her skin back with her fingernails. Another 40 minutes goes by after the nurse does her first assessment. The girls are playing so nicely with each other, why can't they do this at home? The doc comes in and we get our diagnosis.....nope, not the pox. However, Hattie is highly allergic to something she has come into contact with. What? We may never know! Close call, not even close. The red bumps are definately bug bites. I guess that is what happens when you have such a sweet kid, everyone wants a bite! :)

No, no, no...if you would give your kid a bath sometimes you wouldn't have this problem! Haha...just kidding!
